'Trapped In The Judgement Of Thy Befallen Self' is a concept revolving around the idea behind the meaning of a fallen angel which actually represents some of the feelings and thoughts of a human who is trapped in their own form of self-turmoil and judgement. However, they eventually see that they do not have to keep going down that endless spiral they go through on a daily basis. Upon this new revelation, a process of reflection has finally cleared a path, allowing them to escape from their own negative thoughts and emotions.

This concept has 3 parts to its story. The first is 'Damnation'. The second is 'Hope', and the last is 'Salvation'.

APPAREL DESIGN PROJECT 2:
TRAPPED IN THE JUDGEMENT OF THY BEFALLEN SELF

In this assignment, we were tasked to ‘Style on the Runway’aims to challenge students to upcycle an array of SIA in-flight service items and materials into a modern, 2-piece avant-garde look, fit for the runway. The challenge is to utilise minimal waste techniques, including signature inherent of the following:

A. Utility: Form & Function (convertible/multi-functional)

B. Artisanship and/or Textiles & Prints: Craft& Techniques

The entire outfit of this collection was made using materials provided by Singapore Airlines. This included cushion covers, blankets, napkins and even tablecloths. In order to achieve the colour I wanted for my outfit, I decided to dye these materials using fabric dyes.

I also used the SIA materials given to do my textile manipulations such as the red piping on the back of my shirt. They were made out of parts of the blanket and the blanket stuffing.

Since this assignment was focused on avant-garde, I decided to create a collar which was very tall almost covering the eyes. This brings emphasis to my concept which revolves around the idea of self-turmoil and entrapment.

On top of that, the floor-length sleeves also make the outfit avant-garde as well as create further emphasis on the idea of being trapped.

Meanwhile, for my pants, I decided to make it convertible into both a short and long pants. This is to show the idea of salvation whereby the person who was previously trapped has finally broken free.
